The Land-Rover Series I was the first Land-Rover, and it's
story starts with the 2nd world war Jeep. Designed in 1947, in Wales by
Maurice Wilks. In the time of the war- Jeep inspired the 4-wheel-drive motoring. Jeep-
that entered the service in 1941 was a result of the US military
definitions to a General Purpose, 4wd lightweight vehicle- to move
forces in the battle field. Later on General Purpose (GP) became Jeep. After
the war Jeeps crossed the Atlantic ocean to GB, and the small 4wd found
to be suitable to the United Kingdom farms as well to driving in town. In this point, Rover starts to build
it's own 4WD, that will be called Land-Rover.
